Imagining the Porcupine Herd: A Dialogue between Wildlife Research, Art, and Poetry

Interested in learning about how science can inspire art and poetry? In this recorded Zoom webinar, wildlife biologist & visual artist Megan Perra and writer Caitlin Scarano discuss their current artistic collaboration, which draws on contemporary research and ongoing monitoring efforts of the Porcupine caribou herd in Alaska. Through visual art and poetry, their collaboration (slated to exhibit in Bear Gallery in Fairbanks in May 2021) will take audiences through a year in the life of the herd and consider the concept of umwelt. In the Zoom talk, Perra and Scarano discuss their research and art-making process, share current work, and host a live Q&A.
